Happy New Year!
Wishing our family and friends near and far a Happy New Year 2023!
2022 was an unexpected year due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. Roger made four trips to Ukraine to help bring in food, medical, and other aid supplies. We are grateful to those who supported these trips through finances and prayer.
We hosted many individuals coming out of Ukraine and several teams ministering along the Polish/Ukraine border. Our Ukrainian friends and guests, hailing from Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Mariupol, and other smaller towns, joined us for meals, intense talks, and prayer times.
Throughout the year, we visited several Youth With A Mission locations, including in Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Albania, and Poland. In Prague, we continued our outreaches and events, and Roger preached at various churches across the Czech Republic.
Josiah was able to undergo surgery following his bike accident, and it is a huge blessing that he is doing well.
This year, Elizabeth and Josiah are in their Junior year at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, studying biology/premed. Josiah will take the MCAT (medical school exam) in the spring, and Elizabeth will take it in the summer. They just finished an intense semester but did very well academically. They have been working at a residential care center for young people with disabilities. This summer, they completed their biomedical research and had opportunities to shadow doctors. Their brother was a big help in arranging these shadowing opportunities. Elizabeth and Josiah are also participating in school sports, with Josiah playing hockey and Elizabeth playing rugby.
We had a blessed time at weddings this summer. First, our friend and YWAM Prague leader married our good friend’s son in Arizona. Miranda and Mitchell make a wonderful couple. Then, we had an amazing time marrying our nephew Gregory and his new wife Jackie on a beach in Washington State. It was great to be with family and meet many of their friends.
This Christmas we are blessed to have Elizabeth and Josiah home in Prague. Elizabeth's boyfriend Avery, who was studying in France for the semester, came to Prague for a week. We had fun going to a hockey game, an opera, and having friends over for visits.
We look forward to 2023 and all that the Lord has in store for us. We will continue with assistance to Ukraine in February. We will be planning outreaches with the Prague team. Our oversight and responsibilities throughout Central Europe will continue, and we will be traveling to many of the locations throughout the year. To help us reach out to the needy and to assist those ministering in Ukraine and all around Central Europe, prayers and any year-end donations would be appreciated.
Thank you for partnering with us in 2022. We love and appreciate each one of you. Please let us know how we can be praying for you as well. Feel free to email, message, or WhatsApp us! As always, we welcome visits! May the Lord do more than you can imagine or think of in 2023. May He lead you and bless you this new year.
