Prayer For Russia and Ukraine
We took part in a prayer event in Moravia with Christian leaders from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, and Ukraine. There are Russian and Ukrainian Christians living in the Czech Republic who want the bloodshed and death to stop. They desire to see the Church grow and peace between their nations.
Ministry In Poland
As part of our oversight responsibilities with YWAM Central Europe, we had the opportunity to visit several locations in Poland. First, we visited the new location in the City of Ustron, Poland, located near the Czech border.
This new location was birthed out of the need of Ukrainian families fleeing their war-torn towns in Ukraine. This location in the city of Ustron, used to be a pension, so it is perfect for hosting Ukrainian refugees. They are making many renovations as well. In the future, they hope to offer intergenerational/family Discipleship Training Schools.
Then we spent some time with the YWAM staff in the city of Rzeszow, Poland. We did a couple of days of staff training and had powerful times of ministry. The staff is from Brazil, Poland, Germany, Belarus, and a volunteer from Singapore. This base, which is around an hour from the Ukraine border, was planted from the town of Hernhut, Germany, as a response to the war. It has hosted many refugees coming out of Ukraine and so many of the teams ministering on the border and in Ukraine.
The JESUS EVENT
We are involved with the JESUS EVENT, a major outreach taking place in Prague during the month of August. There are a number of different churches promoting the event. The event is centered around a very large tent. Evangelism takes place every weekend in August. Teams go out throughout the day in the local neighborhoods inviting people to the event.
The Czech Republic is one of the most atheistic countries in Europe where people are looking for peace and purpose in the wrong places. We have seen people with no hope suddenly find hope in Jesus Christ. We are so thankful for this opportunity to partner with other Christian organizations in the city and share Jesus with so many needy people.
Thailand
We have been invited to Thailand for the YWAM Global Leadership Gathering in September. This will be a historic gathering for YWAM. We will have the opportunity to meet with and hear from YWAM leaders throughout the world. With the leadership responsibilities we have, it will be an important gathering to attend. There is a marked increase in momentum globally both in YWAM and the wider Body of Christ in seeing both relationships strengthened and strategic plans made for the decade ahead. The Holy Spirit is orchestrating incredible things in the midst of shaking and turmoil taking place. The costs associated with the trip will be around $2,800. We would also like to visit several counseling centers in the Chiang Mai area after the gathering.
A Great Book
This book DEFECTOR by Mark Hobafcovich took place in 1970s Romania. Mark defected from Romania, then through a number of circumstances experienced new life in Jesus Christ. When you read this book, you will not be able to put it down.
Prayer Requests
Pray for the JESUS EVENT in Prague.
Pray for the additional $2,800 to come in for our participation in the YWAM Global Leadership Gathering in Thailand.
Pray for the end of the war in Ukraine. We will bring more supplies in again in October.
Pray for more people to come to know Jesus Christ in Czech, throughout Central Europe, and Ukraine.
Pray for our kids as they finish their last year of undergraduate at Calvin University. Josiah has been accepted to the medical school at MSU (Michigan State University) for 2024-2025. Elizabeth will take the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) August 19th!
